Compact small parts storage
with maximum performance
I.C.T. Truck & Trailer Parts in Izegem is one of the leading specialists for truck and trailer parts in Belgium, offering a wide range of products and expert advice for customers to ensure fast and reliable supply. With growing demand for spare parts and an ever-increasing range of products, it was essential that the company find a modern solution to organize its storage facilities. Thousands of small components had to be stored and this needed to be done in a structured and space-saving manner, while ensuring process reliability and ready access at all times.
Efficient storage organization with five Hänel Lean-Lifts®
To meet these requirements, I.C.T. Truck & Trailer Parts relies on a total of five Hänel Lean-Lifts®. Thanks to their compact design, the vertical lifts make full use of the available room height and create a high storage density within a minimum footprint. This means that the company can organize large inventories clearly and centrally – a significant improvement compared with conventional shelving systems.
Measuring up to eight meters in height, the Hänel Lean-Lifts® automatically bring the items to the ergonomic access point. This not only saves valuable space, but also optimizes the work environment, since all components are systematically organized and quickly available.
Central control with HänelSoft®-N
The HänelSoft®-N warehouse management software plays a key role in the overall system, networking all five Lean-Lifts® and ensuring that all inventories are recorded and updated in real time. Apart from ongoing inventory management, the software also offers a range of different analyses, for example of the picking performance or the use of storage space.
Especially practical: HänelSoft®-N not only manages item numbers and inventories, but also pictures of the stored products. This makes the items easier to identify and significantly reduces the risk of mix-ups. This transparency makes daily work much more efficient and more reliable at the same time.
Barcode-based order processing
Order picking at I.C.T. is fully digital and barcode-based. Every order is started by scanning a barcode. The Hänel Lean-Lifts® then provide all requested items in the optimal sequence. The intelligent controller ensures that wait times are reduced to a minimum and orders can be prepared promptly.
An integrated light barrier curtain at the access point protects the work area. Employees are therefore safeguarded from unintended movements and can safely retrieve items without risk.
Precision with Pick-o-Light® Vario
I.C.T. relies on the Hänel Pick-o-Light® Vario to ensure orders are picked with optimal precision. A LED light spot shows the exact retrieval position directly on the container. Together with the MP 14 N controller – where pictures of items, container overviews, and all relevant inventory data is shown on the display – the result is a system that virtually eliminates mistakes.
Retrieval is confirmed directly at the controller. This step ensures complete traceability of each individual stock transaction and creates seamless documentation.
Parallel operation for maximum efficiency
A special highlight at I.C.T. is the simultaneous use of all five Hänel Lean-Lifts®. Because the vertical lifts can be operated remotely, one employee can work at multiple access points in parallel. While one lift pre-positions the next container, items can be retrieved at another lift at the same time.
This interaction between pre-positioning and parallel operation minimizes waiting times, significantly accelerates order picking, and improves the productivity of the entire warehouse. Walking distances, which are often considerable in conventional rack storage facilities, are practically eliminated.
The Hänel solution clearly shows that efficient storage not only saves space, but also reduces working time and increases employee comfort.
“The decision in favor of the Hänel intralogistics solution was a clear commitment to quality and performance. Modern technology, ergonomics, and process reliability create the basis for further growth.”
