User interface

The entire concept has been revised, making usage much more convenient with modern functions. Complex routines and processes are clearly and concisely visualized. Templates, icons and other convenient functionalities, such as the drag and drop function for shelf management, makes system operation much easier and speeds up data input as well.

Realistic and flexible mapping of various warehouse scenarios

Using a configurator with an intuitive graphic interface, scenarios that involve Hänel systems, shelf storage, racks, pallet bays and other warehouse locations can be mapped very quickly.

The precise structuring of the storage areas in the Hänel system is achieved with the shelf editor, which is used to define the storage container units, types of divider elements, reserved storage capacities, as well as the shelf templates.

Platform and location independence
Unlike a desktop application, HänelSoft® is based on browser technology so that it is available anytime and anywhere, permitting independent access to storage data regardless of location. The software does not require additional installations and features platform independence.

Customized configuration options 
HänelSoft® also supports the use of many different optional modules that can be used as building blocks to set up customized configurations that satisfy very specific customer requirements.

An additional highlight:
Mobile devices can be integrated with even more flexibility: Hand-held terminals optimize storage processes in the warehouse. Tablet concepts in the storage area can also be applied to order picking trolleys and forklifts that can be routed directly to the Hänel storage systems.

A modern and intuitive user interface guides the user through the software and can be operated directly from the Hänel microprocessor controllers via touchscreen. 
The browser functionality of the MP 12 N-HostWeb control system allows HänelSoft® to bring the intuitive functionality of a tablet PC or smartphone straight to the lift controller.

All booking dialogs for the pick and put operations are available where the materials are being moved – directly at the lift!



Graphical display

The user is shown the storage locations for pick and put operations on the graphical display. A flashing area indicates where items can be retrieved or put into storage.


Entry of supplementary data

Flexible configuration options support the entry of additional data such as order numbers or cost centers.


Article picture

Pictures of the articles can also be called up. They can be enlarged on the control unit to enable comparison with the original article, for example.

Direct integration of Hänel systems in various ERP solutions

Hänel attaches great importance to enabling the storage lifts to interface directly with customer ERP software.

For many years, now Hänel’s MP 100 D and MP 12 N-HostData control systems have been supporting data exchange without the need for additional middleware. An FTP server, a Windows drive release or a web service interface is all that is required for data exchange between the Hänel controller and the customer’s ERP system.

The multifunctional controller from Hänel

The latest generation of the Hänel controllers has now become an SAP user terminal. Synchronization problems, such as those stemming from redundant data storage, are prevented.

All SAP user dialogs are displayed directly on the touch screen of the Hänel control unit. Data entries are booked in the ERP system in real time – then the storage system is actuated. The booking is executed directly in the ERP server. There is no data buffering or data conversion in the control system. This means that the storage overview and inventory status control are always updated – worldwide, regardless of the client used.

Thus Hänel storage systems can be integrated in nearly every kind of ERP environment.

Thanks to its close cooperation with Prismat, a leading provider of warehouse management systems and SAP logistics solutions, Hänel was able to realize the middleware-free link joining the Hänel controller and an SAP warehouse management system.

The individual programming and configuration in the ERP environment can be done by our cooperation partner Prismat or by customers themselves (see the gray information box on the right).

The user interface can be adjusted on the control unit according to specific individual needs.

A large number of installations have already proven their worth in real-world environments. With the wide range of connectivity options offered by Hänel, it has been possible to set up installations having ERP systems from SAP, Navision, proAlpha®, Sage, PSI Penta, INFOR, ABAS and many others – with great success.

By integrating the SOAP interface in its controllers, Hänel has succeeded in making the visions of its customers a reality.

The latest generation of the MP 12 N-HostWeb controller has now become an SAP user terminal. Synchronization problems, such as duplication of data storage, are avoided. 

Very soon SAP user dialogs will be displayed directly on the touch screen of the Hänel control unit. All warehouse processes can be executed directly from the Hänel control unit. Data entries are booked in SAP in real time. Peripheral devices, such as barcode scanners and printers, are also supported.

This solution also supports Pick-o-Light-Vario®.

Thanks to its close cooperation with Prismat, a leading provider of warehouse management systems and SAP logistics solutions, Hänel has been able to further expand its MP 12 N-HostWeb control system and provide it with an SOAP web service interface. The communication via the SOAP interface includes data exchange as well as the transmission of drive commands sent out of SAP directly to the Hänel system controller.

Using web-based technology enables a middleware-free link to be implemented between the Hänel controller and an SAP warehouse management system.

Tools are requested or put into storage by entering an article number or using a barcode scanner. This means similar-looking tools can’t be confused.
In addition to the numerical data, Hänel TDM processes and stores other information about components, complete tools and tool lists in all the customary data formats.
All storage and retrieval operations are logged, which makes later verification and tracking easy, and ensures traceability to the respective user. This practical tool data management system can be adapted flexibly and effortlessly to different user environments.
